Welcome to the Intimacy With Christ Devotional Blog

Every day brings new opportunities to grow closer to Jesus Christ. Here you'll find biblical devotionals, practical Bible teaching, and Christ-centered encouragement designed to strengthen your faith and deepen your relationship with God. Whether you're seeking wisdom, healing, renewed hope, or a deeper understanding of Scripture, these devotionals will help you apply God's Word to everyday life. My prayer is that each message inspires you to spend time alone with God, trust His promises, and experience the transforming power of His love. ~ Author Richard Wafford

Gossip is as Deadly Witchcraft

Proverbs 11:9: "The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.”

Who is the accuser of the brethren? Who is the one who distorts others’ views of another person? Who is the one who seeks to create tension, drama, and discord among the brethren? Satan is the answer you’re looking for. In James 4:11 it says, “Do not speak evil of one another, brethren.”

In James 4:11 it says, “Do not speak evil of one another, brethren.”

Anytime you rebel against God’s truth and willingly disregard it, that is witchcraft, for you are rejecting the word of the Lord. Did not Lucifer reject God’s truth, want to be like God, and put his throne above God’s? Is not Satan referred to as “The accuser of the brethren” (Rev. 12:10)? So, when you become an accuser of your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, doesn’t that make you a partaker of Satan’s rebellion?

1 Samuel 15:23: “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord.”

Whenever you gossip about another person, thereby distorting someone else’s view of that person, you are taking part in Satan’s activities. Gossip murders someone else’s spirit and reputation. You are speaking curses down upon another person. Only Satan distorts and destroys another person’s image. Love as Christ loved you and forgive as He has forgiven you! ~ Richard

Many of these lessons are in my new devotional book, “Warrior of the Cross, 40 Day Discipleship Challenge & Journal,” which grew out of my own experience of a time of darkness, desperation, and healing, and the hope I needed in Christ.

I’ve been through deep waters, I’ve been through the valleys, I’ve seen the darkest night with no hope in sight, but through it all, God has been my refuge and strength, a very present help in my times of trouble!
