Luke 12:49–51, “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished! 51 Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division.”
 
There is nothing more powerful than the spoken word. With words, we can build up and strengthen mankind with maturity, confidence, and boldness, or destroy a person’s life with doubts about self-esteem, uncertainty, and fear.

Everything that Jesus did or said was grounded in the life He lived before men, in active obedience to the Law of Moses, and in the fulfillment of that life in truth, culminating in His death, burial, and resurrection. The resurrection confirmed the words of truth He presented to mankind. The passage above is the effect of those words, a blazing fire of truth entering the souls of mankind, creating division because not everyone will accept it. That is why Paul says in Romans 12:18, “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” Live peaceably with all men, because it is the truth alone that will burn the conscience of wickedness to the point of rebellion or transformation. Love others as Christ loved you, and be faithful to the truth to your last dying breath. ~ Richard
