Welcome to the Intimacy With Christ Devotional Blog

Every day brings new opportunities to grow closer to Jesus Christ. Here you'll find biblical devotionals, practical Bible teaching, and Christ-centered encouragement designed to strengthen your faith and deepen your relationship with God. Whether you're seeking wisdom, healing, renewed hope, or a deeper understanding of Scripture, these devotionals will help you apply God's Word to everyday life. My prayer is that each message inspires you to spend time alone with God, trust His promises, and experience the transforming power of His love. ~ Author Richard Wafford

1 Peter 5:8–9, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”

Have you ever felt like the world is against you? That wherever you go, trouble always seems to find you? That life always seems to back you into a corner? So you stay in the Word of God more, praying and worshiping more, thinking that will make a difference, but instead it only makes it worse. You think to yourself, “I’m doing my best to serve God by serving others, so what am I doing wrong?”

The world treats you like an outcast, and in the church, you seem to be one too, maybe not openly, but the personal fellowship just isn’t there. Then you cry out to God, asking Him what’s going on here.

Then you learn throughout the Bible that God’s greatest champions, from David to Elijah, from Jeremiah to Daniel, and from Peter to Paul, were Satan’s favorite targets. To make a difference for God is to put yourself on Satan’s hit list. To change others’ lives through Christ is to encounter trouble all around you! This should put a big smile on your face, for your rewards in Heaven are great. ~ Richard

Many of these lessons are in my new devotional book, “Warrior of the Cross, 40 Day Discipleship Challenge & Journal,” which grew out of my own experience of a time of darkness, desperation, and healing, and the hope I needed in Christ.

I’ve been through deep waters, I’ve been through the valleys, I’ve seen the darkest night with no hope in sight, but through it all, God has been my refuge and strength, a very present help in my times of trouble!
